Future planning

Doris Kabir: "at our last visit children came by foot from mountains as far away as 30 km. They had the typical swollen stomachs of malnourished children. They have hardly anything to eat since the price of rice has risen on the world market.”

  • Firstly it is of prime importance to introduce the classes 6 to 8, so the children get a school leaving certificate.
  • We want to set up a kitchen and an eating area. 50 % of the children in Bangladesh under 5 years old are malnourished.
  • The school urgently needs sanitary arrangements.
  • If we had electricity we could run a ventilator or fan providing some relief and helping concentration whilst learning in the tropical heat.
  • In some individual cases adult education is being offered, this we plan to expand.
  • Furthermore we like to be able to build the school walls with solid building materials.

And our dream is to be able to provide medical treatment for the surrounding areas – may be one day a small clinic would be financially feasible.
