Our Project: The Kala Gazi Bari Primary School

We founded Kala Gazi Bari Primary School in 2003. The building and all facilities are extremely simple. However, the school exists! And it has already made a difference!

Doris Kabir writes: "My father-in-law mainly coordinated the acitivities in Rangunia. We started with 80 pupils -

all of them boys and no girls. Can you imagine, how much effort it was to convince the local people, that it is better for their girls to learn and go to school?"

"Today, we have 4 teachers and one headmaster. It was on purpose that we chose Moslem as well as Hindu teachers. In Bangladesh the various religious groups live peaceably together. Now we have 300 pupils – and 80 % of them are actually girls! A fact, we are very proud of!"

"At least twice a year my husband and I come to see the school on our own expense inorder to promote single projects and create new ones. Until 2011, we financed the school all by our private resources, my Bengale family, my husband and I including the help of single, close friends."
